NDotM’s FJF work in Brighton

The BasementA couple of weeks back NDotM travelled to a cold but sunny Brighton to work on the national Future Jobs Fund (FJF) bid we are currently putting together. The aim of the trip was to establish relationships with partners who will help us deliver FJF placements in order to build on our success this year in putting unemployed young adults into meaningful work placements at the Southbank Centre, NewVic, Stratford Circus and East London Dance. We met with representatives from Brighton and Hove City Council and heads of local arts institutions in the Basement. Bah humbug and other seasonal greetings from the Southbank hut where even Scrooge would find it hard not to be enchanted by the twinkly lights and Christmas market.

The best possible Christmas present for NDotM is the news we’ve just found out that 31 jobs will be available in East London through the Future Jobs Fund bid we did on behalf of Newham Sixth Form College (NewVIc), Stratford Circus and East London Dance.

Bradshaw announces jobs boost for young people (including jobs run by NDotM)

Stratford CircusMore than 600 new jobs in the cultural, creative and sport sectors were announced by Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw today, in a range of projects aimed at getting young people out of unemployment and onto the first rung of the career ladder.

Future Jobs Fund money is today confirmed for jobs around England and Wales in sectors as diverse as theatres and music venues, digital archiving, media production and the furthering the Olympic sporting legacy.
